Animal trainer trainee
Hello, my name is Lisa and I'm an animal trainer trainee. Since childhood, I grew up with many different pets. I have always had a great interest in nature and animals; especially wolves have always fascinated me.
After graduating from school in 2017, it quickly became clear that I would start studying biology at the University of Vienna. Through my studies I was able to realize my passion. But I didn't just want to gather theoretical knowledge, I also wanted to do practical work. I found out about the WSC through a lecture and wanted to do an internship from then on.
In the summer of 2020 I was lucky. During this time I was able to participate in visitor programs, helped with everyday work and was able to support two scientific projects. Above all, I was fulfilled with taking care of the animals. Every single animal is special, has its own character and it was so exciting to get to know them all. I was thrilled to see the relationship and the way the trainers treated the animals. Since then I haven't wanted to leave the WSC.
In 2022, I was able to help raise the dog pups by hand. I was there live, watching the little ones grow and develop every day. It was an incredibly great experience.
Now I'm getting an education as a dog and wolf trainer. I can't wait to learn more about training and continue to develop the relationship with each animal to better understand them. I'm happy to be part of the team. The work is the perfect mix between the scientific side and working in nature and with animals.
It will be a long time before I can really work independently with the animals. Nevertheless, I look forward to every single moment and also the challenge that awaits me, with which I can grow.
